Legia Warszawa gave up on signing Anthony Lopes, one of the most recognizable goalkeepers in the French Ligue 1. The former Portuguese national team player and 2016 European champion could have joined Legia this summer, but the Warsaw club ultimately decided against the transfer. Lopes was offered to Legia and had no excessive financial expectations. He was ready to play for around 30,000 euros per month net, which is significantly less than he earned at Olympique Lyon. The Portuguese goalkeeper has an impressive record, including the 2016 European Championship. He played 14 times for the Portuguese national team and won the European Championship in 2016. However, Legia decided that the transfer was not necessary, as Otto Hindrich received good reviews in the spring, and after Kacper Tobiasz's departure, Ivan Brkić joined the club from Motor Lublin. Additionally, in recent seasons, Lopes has not shown the same high level of performance as in his best years. After losing his place in Lyon, he played for FC Nantes, but the club was relegated from Ligue 1. In Warsaw, there may have been doubts about whether the Portuguese goalkeeper would be a real reinforcement for the team. Ultimately, the former European champion will stay in France, signing with Angers. Legia will build competition in the goal based on its current players.
