Legia Warszawa levels the friendly thanks to Rajović

Legia Warszawa finished Saturday's training match in Herzogenaurach with a 2:2 draw against FC Nürnberg's reserves, and Mileta Rajović secured the equaliser from a penalty in the 78th minute. The game, the second of the German camp, revealed defensive lapses but also an improving attack under manager Mark Papszun.

How did the match unfold?

The encounter started poorly – after 18 minutes Legia trailed 0:2, with goals from Moritz Wiezorrek and Eliyah Rau. In the first half the defence was organised by Zoran Arsenić, Rafał Augustyniak and Robert Deziel Junior, yet the opponent's pressure proved too strong. In the 37th minute Łukasz Zjawiński delivered a pass to Rafał Adamski, who finished the move and restored the 1:1 scoreline. After the break Papszun changed the entire eleven, seeking fresh impetus.

Why does Rajović's goal matter?

Rajović, fighting for a regular spot in recent weeks, converted a penalty after a foul in the box. His strike not only leveled the game but also lifted the squad's morale ahead of upcoming tests. Coach Papszun stressed that such moments build character and show that players can find themselves in tough situations.

What’s next in the preparations?

Legia continues intensive training in Germany, planning further friendlies before the Ekstraklasa season kicks off. Currently Legia Warszawa sits 6th in the league with 49 points from 34 games, and the last five results are a clean winning streak (WWWWW). The club has scored 42 goals and conceded 37, a +5 goal difference, and remains 11 points behind leaders Lech Poznań. The most recent league match was a 4-0 victory over Motor Lublin on 23 May 2026, confirming the team's rising form.
