Legia Warszawa announced that ahead of the new season it has extended a helping hand to former goalkeeper Kacper Tobiasz, allowing him to join team training sessions. The decision does not involve a new contract and is meant to keep his preparation rhythm after leaving without a release fee.
Why did Legia decide to support him?
The club highlighted that Tobiasz spent many years at Legia, from the academy to the first team, tallying 139 appearances, 40 clean sheets and two Polish Cups. "With the staff's consent Kacper Tobiasz will shortly take part in training with the squad," reads the official statement. For Legia this is a gesture of gratitude and a way to maintain high preparation standards, as the team has been training at Legia Training Center since June 20 and later went to a camp in Herzogenaurach.
What are fans and media saying?
Internet users posted mixed reactions: some praised the move ("We always remember our own, well done"), others criticized the lack of a concrete contract ("sign a deal and stop fooling around"). The discussion also sparked rumours about Tobiasz possibly returning to Turkish Samsunspor, English Middlesbrough or Bulgarian Ludogorets Razgrad. None of these options have been confirmed yet.
What comes next for Legia?
After returning from Germany Legia continues training at its base and has scheduled four friendly matches, including two against Aris Limassol. The club keeps a tight rhythm, having won its last five games (WWWWW). Legia Warszawa currently sits 6th in the Ekstraklasa with 49 points from 34 matches (12W‑13D‑9L) and its latest result was a 4‑0 victory over Motor Lublin on 23 May 2026. The team has scored 42 goals and conceded 37, a +5 goal difference, and is 11 points behind leaders Lech Poznań in the title race.
Will Tobiasz find a new club?
So far there is no confirmed new contract. Media reports have mentioned interest from the English Championship, especially Middlesbrough, but nothing is certain. Legia, while not offering a permanent spot, provides training conditions that could help him quickly return to top‑level football.
Legia Warszawa hopes that the support for Tobiasz shows how valued academy graduates are in the club's culture, and at the same time underscores that preparations for the new season are in full swing.
